Our Eggs / Poultry
Tom, and Wadson's Farm, didn't get back into poultry farming until 2003, when we shifted to organic farming after being hit by Hurricane Fabian. We started with a flock of day old layers and broilers, and off we went.
We have received international recognition for our poultry practices. Tom is currently the President of The Board of American Pasture Poultry Producers Association (APPPA) in the US.
We currently keep around 700 brown layers, which are a hybrid cross between a White Rock egg-layer type female and a Rhode Island Red male. We get our chicks from Moyer's Chicks in Quakertown, Pennsylvania.
*** UPDATE *** Since fall 2012 we have suspended growing broilers, due the spiralling costs of organic feed for the chickens.
